RnB singer Ciara has grown up in the public eye. Her first album, Goodies, is still played in clubs and listened to on the radio. Unlike many other teen stars though, her time in the spotlight has been pretty calm and clean. She hasn’t had a continual string of dominant albums like say Taylor Swift has, but she’s had intermittent hits which have kept her current. Songs like Like a Boy (2007) Love, Sex, Magic with Justin Timberlake (2009), and Got Me Good (2012).

She’s recently been working on the promo for her seventh studio album “Beauty Marks” and around that has been more open in interviews about her process to getting to where she is now.

A few years ago, Ciara was engaged to Future, one of the most successful music Producers around today. The relationship took place in the public eye and their engagement was called off shortly after the birth of their son, amidst rumours Future had cheated.

Being so open has meant that Ciara is offering up an opportunity for people to learn from her and understand how you come out of an emotional situation and get on top (or ‘Level Up!’. From music and success, to heartbreak and love, here are the most important things we can learn from CiCi:

Visualisation

“I believe that when you pray for things in your life, be very specific, be very clear… to the point to where you can taste it… When I was 13years old, going on 14years old… I wrote down on a sheet of paper, my goals… I was very specific. The first goal was to get discovered, the second goal was, once I got discovered, to sell 3-4million records… and the third goal was to have longevity. Those were my 3x goals on that sheet of paper. 15years old I signed my first publishing deal, 16 years old i signed my first recording contract, then 18years old put out my first album, Goodies, … and that album not only sold 3-4million records, it sold 5million records… and the third goal, longevity, now I’m 15years later” – Ciara

Know your worth and priorities

“When I was thinking about my son… I know the kind of love that I want, for us.” – Ciara

Coping with pain

“Sometimes when you fake it til you make it, it helps you get through some stufff” – Ciara

Being A Working Mum

“I feel like I’m thriving… I feel like for my kids it’s important to see mummy doing her thing, you can do anything you put your mind to… I feel like I’m doing something even more because of them” – Ciara

Oh, and if you want to be in similar shape to Ciara, this is what you’re looking at commitment wise:

“Once I got back into it, I worked out two or three times daily. I would go to Gunnar [Peterson] first for my one-hour training session, then I’d have two more cardio sessions later in the day. That, along with a really clean eating plan, was how I lost 60 pounds in four months. It was a very intense program, and I was extremely focused on it.” – Ciara
